Product Description:
In the newest devastatingly intense thriller by #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon Vince Flynn, his deadly and charismatic hero Mitch Rapp wages a war against a new enemy with the help of a fellow soldier as dedicated and as lethal as they come.
Vince Flynn's thrillers, featuring counterterrorism operative Mitch Rapp, have dominated the imagination of readers everywhere. In them, Flynn has captured the secretive world of the fearless men and women, who, bound by duty, risk their lives in a covert war they must hide from even their own political leaders.
Now, Rapp and his protege, Mike Nash, may have met their match. The CIA has detected and intercepted two terrorist cells, but a third is feared to be on the loose. Led by a dangerous mastermind obsessed with becoming the leader of al-Qaeda, this determined and terrifying group is about to descend on America.
Rapp needs the best on this assignment, and Nash, who has served his government honorably for sixteen years first as an officer in the Marine Corps and then as an operative in an elite counterterrorism team run by Rapp is his choice. Together, they have made careers out of meeting violence with extreme violence and have never wavered in the fight against the jihadists and their culture of death. Both have fought the war on terrorism in secret without accolades or acknowledgment of their personal sacrifices. Both have been forced to lie to virtually every single person they care about, and both have soldiered on with the knowledge that their hard work and lethal tactics have saved thousands of lives.
But the political winds have changed in America, and certain leaders on Capitol Hill are pushing to have men like Rapp and Nash put back on a short leash. And then one spring afternoon in Washington, DC, everything changes.
Using his insider knowledge of intelligence agencies and the military, Flynn once again delivers an all-too-real portrayal of a war that is that is waged every day by a handful of brave, devoted souls. Smart, fast-paced, and jaw-droppingly realistic, Extreme Measures is the political thriller of our time.

- OLD MAN READING A YOUNGER BOOKThe book by Vince Flynn was a definite five star book, how they could ruin the audio book by having George Guidall perform it is beyond my understanding. I am a huge Vince Flynn fan and like to hear the audio books after I have read the hardback. George Guidall sounds like a very old man trying to keep his false teeth in his mouth. This is a younger, high energy, action story. Listening to George could put you to sleep. His constant whistling "S" sound, dropping sound at the end of words and ... Read More

- Not Flynn's best, but still a good readI am a big fan of Vince Flynn and have read all of his other books.
As other reviewers have noted, this book does not have Mitch Rapp, who is Flynn's central character in all of his other books, at the heart of the action. Therefore if this is the first time that you are reading Flynn, you won't really get an accurate picture of how his other books are structured.
Nonetheless, Flynn writes well and keeps the action moving. I don't think that this book is Flynn's best because ... Read More

- Way too much Mike Nash characterBoth Extreme Measures and Protect and Defend are disappointing. Both novels have way too much time developed to Mike Nash and his home life.
Not to spoil the story line but very much enjoyed the method of attack on America.
Hopefully Flynn will spend more time on Rapp and the plot and less time of Hash in his next venture.
Rating:
- Good but not one of Flynn's greatest worksExtreme measures is a good read but not one of Vince Flynn's best efforts. It starts slow but once it begins to build to the climax of the story it is hard to put down.
Rating:
- Flynn's latest effort is complete in itself, with a beginning, middle and definite endingIf I had the mythical wallet of endless wealth, I would buy up a few hundred thousand copies of EXTREME MEASURES, Vince Flynn's latest Mitch Rapp novel, and start passing them out on street corners. Given that it's that time again, when the American electorate is about to decide who is going to drive the Lexus for the next four years, one needs to make informed decisions. And if you haven't considered the issues raised in this book, I would suggest that you really need to take that extra step.
