The longer the state delays making crucial fixes to its crumbling water infrastructure, the more costly it will get. Thumbs up to Rodger and Margaret Jensen, who have given $1.5 million to the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at California State University, Fresno, to fund seven scholarships yearly for agricultural business or plant science students. Recipients will be known as Jensen Scholars. Each scholarship will cover in-state annual tuition of approximately $6,000. Read comments

It's no secret that the California Public Utilities Commission has been very cozy with the utilities it regulates. The PUC, especially under President Michael Peevey, is generally a rubber stamp of rate increases requested by the utilities. The PUC also has failed in it role of regulating utilities, and that lack of oversight has led to a major tragedy. Read comments
